The NIHR Research Support Service provides free advice to researchers at all stages of their research career who are developing funding applications for health and social care research.
The NIHR Research Support Service provides free advice to researchers at all stages of their research career who are developing funding applications for health and social care research.
The RSS is a national service delivered by eight ‘Hubs’, each a partnership of research groups, organisations and clinical trials units (CTUs) with expertise in applied health and care research. Each of the eight hubs and specialist centres is open to researchers based anywhere in England, and the RSS can support researchers in the devolved nations if they are working in collaboration with English partners.
The SCPH USP is working with and alongside the RSS USP hub to provide advice and support for public health research outside NHS settings. Regardless of whether you require support in clinical research or public health research, you can request support from us using one single form. We will make sure you get assistance from the appropriate expert.

Across the RSS and the SCPH, our partners are the University of Oxford, Oxford Brookes University, the University of Portsmouth, four associated CTUs and four local authorities (Hampshire County Council, Oxford County Council, Portsmouth City Council, and Southampton City Council). Support offered by the RSS or SCPH will be delivered by staff from across these different partner organisations.
